Parents of many elementary school students in Madison will be happy to know their schools or neighborhood will not be rezoned — at least for now.

MOBILE, Alabama — Roy Nichols has been dealt some tough issues during his four years as superintendent of Mobile County public schools. During hard economic times, he’s closed four schools, cut programs and eliminated about 1,000 teaching and other positions.
